Common Ground is a chance to step outside your own academy for a weekend, learn from incredible instructors, meet women who share the same passion, and make connections that last long after the event is over.
No matter where you train or how long you've been training, we'd love to have you join us!

Kaida earned her black belt in 2023 under Nick "Chewy" Albin, becoming Derby City's first female black belt. She has built a reputation as a skilled competitor and technical instructor who enjoys breaking down the details that make techniques work, giving students concepts they can immediately apply to their own game.

Wendy earned her black belt in 2023 at Grove City BJJ under Dave Freetage. A multiple-time IBJJF World and Pan Champion, she blends elite competition experience with detail-oriented instruction that helps students build confidence.

Darla is a 1st-degree black belt with more than 25 years of martial arts experience and multiple IBJJF World and Pan Championship titles. She's passionate about helping students develop both their jiu jitsu and their confidence on and off the mats, bringing a unique perspective through her background as a psychologist, specializing in sports psychology.
